Gifts of the Modern Day

They tell me I’m not good enough

If I fell from grace, I landed rough

Self doubt makes my thoughts corrupt

Filled with emotion, I’m about to erupt

But the thing about the mind

Is it’s of our own design

Yours is of yours

And mine is of mine

You can choose to think of clouds and flowers

Or choose to sink in the thoughts so sour

You can see yourself with a sneer and glower

Or believe in yourself, like Trump in his tower

Or someone far greater

Whose a lover

Not a hater

Choose another

A mentor to emulate

Whose life you believe to be great

Marcus Aurelius, Musashi or Buddha

Pick and choose wisdom you approve of

There is no excuse

Humanity’s knowledge a quick search away

Decide how you use

Technology’s gifts of the modern day
