Food’s Allure

Do you enjoy your food?

Do you look upon it with delight

Let the meal set the mood

Do you plan your first bite?

Do you gaze at the colors

That constitute your plate?

Filled with nature’s wonders

Virgin palate starts to salivate

When that bite is crafted

Do you bring it to your nose?

Do you breathe in deep, like a yogi – practiced

Reveling in how the scent flows..

Thinking of words to describe

Like savory, sweet or demure

Before your food is even tried

Your desire to taste is true and pure

Your lips part more

You prepare to eat

As your food’s allure

Climbs toward it’s peak

A sensation, we seek

Of taste and of pleasure

Close your eyes – don’t speak

Let the tongue have it’s treasure
